Dahlia sp.

Dahlia are perennial flowering plants that make excellent cut flowers. Tubers are produced during late Summer and Autumn, which allow them to come up again season after season.

DAHLIAS ARE HIGHLY GENETICALLY VARIABLE. THE PICTURED FLOWER IS ONE OF THE PARENTS. YOUR FLOWERS COULD BE POMPON, DAISY, OR DECORATIVE SHAPES.

Sowing instructions:

Can be direct sown outdoors in early Spring to Summer, or sown in punnets 4-6 weeks before the last frost. Seed should be sown 10mm and kept moist but not wet.

Plant information:

Seedlings emerge 3-5 days after sowing at 18-21°C.

Plants grow to 1.8m tall and 1m wide (depending on plant spacing and pruning for shape).

Dahlia flower in the height of Summer and Autumn. Deadheading encourages further flowering and branching. Plants succumb to powdery mildew at the end of the season, so good airflow between plants can increase your flowering season. Tubers will form during Autumn, and these can be lifted and stored during Winter if your soil is not freely draining.

15 seeds in a packet.
