Extremely hardy and can thrive in very harsh environments. Tolerates saline and alkaline soils.
The seeds of this plant have been used traditionally as a food source they were eaten on their own or incorporated into meals.
Other uses include windbreaks, shade for stock, hedge, firebreak and soil binding.
