Tromboncino Squash (Cucurbita Moschata) seeds
Cherry's gardenWALLSEND, New South Wales, Australia

The Tromboncino squash is a unique Italian heirloom variety that offers both whimsy in the garden and versatility in the kitchen. Unlike standard zucchini, this variety produces elongated fruit with a solid, seedless neck and a bulbous end where the seeds are concentrated. This unique structure makes it incredibly easy to prepare with almost no waste during slicing or dicing.
When harvested young and still green (about 12 days after the flower is pollinated), the Tromboncino serves as a delicious summer squash with a firm, nutty flesh that holds its shape beautifully when grilled or sautéed. If left on the vine to mature, the skin turns a warm tan, and the interior becomes a dense, sweet winter squash similar to a butternut (which, fun fact: belongs to the same species!)
The vines of Tromboncino squash perform best when grown on a sturdy trellis, allowing the fruit to hang straight and reach impressive lengths of about 70cm or more. For those growing on the ground, the squash will naturally curve into fun, trombone-like shapes that give the variety its name.
This seed packet will contain 15+ high-quality, hand-picked seeds from mature squash I have grown in my garden. In my own testing, under ideal sprouting conditions, I can achieve 95%+ germination rate. I personally find the young fruit much more delicious than standard zucchini, though it takes up more space due to its climbing habit.
