Delicious and nutritious.

Also known as Ceylon spinach or vine spinach, this is a warm-season leafy green, with a more mild flavour than regular spinach. It is vigorous and vining plant that can be grown as a perennial in tropical and subtropical regions, or as a self-propagating annual in cooler areas. The leaves and young shoots are edible, with a mild spinach-like flavor, and can be enjoyed raw or cooked. This is a red type, with pretty pink-purple flowers that turn into red-purple berries, which can be used as natural colouring. The flesh of the berry can also be eaten and it has a soft spinach flavour and a seed inside. My kids like eating them and painting each other with them.

Even if you have tried growing climbing spinach before, you should try again with these local seeds. These are a tasty and versatile addition to a variety of dishes, used fresh in salads, or cooked into stirfrys or stews. They happily self-propagate so do consider where you plant them with that in mind. You may also want to consider thinning out your seedlings as they pop up, but we grow lots for use for animal feed as well as for us.

At least 20 seeds per pack.
