One of the most popular and common chilli varieties available in Australia. The Birds Eye chilli or Thai chilli Cultivated across Southeast Asia, it is used extensively in many Asian cuisines.
These tall bushy productive plants produce masses of small chillies which ripen from green to red. These small chillies have a hot heat and are popular in cooking; they can be eaten raw, dried or pickled.
This is a great variety for temperate and cold climates such as Melbourne, as it is more cold tolerant than other chilli varieties.
Each year you can expect to pick lots of chilies. With a Scoville Heat Unit between 50,000 – 100,000 SHU, it is less hot than the Habanero but hotter than a Jalapeno.
