Angled Luffa (Luffa Acutangula) seeds

Angled luffa is a vigorous tropical vine prized for its edible, tender young fruit and fibrous, mature sponges. Compared to regular smooth luffa, it is more commonly used for eating due to its slightly denser, sweeter flesh. Angled luffa is used extensively in Asian cuisine as a popular summer vegetable often compared to zucchini. Note that the skin of the luffa must be removed before eating, as it is tough and fibrous even when young.
Angled luffa thrives in hot, humid climates with full sun. Needs strong trellising to produce straight fruit and avoid ground rot. Compared to smooth luffa, it is more resistant to hot, humid conditions and experience fewer pollination issues at the height of summer. Flowers open in the late afternoon and stay open overnight until the following morning. In my climate, it is also more productive – growing more edible fruit in a season.
This seed packet will contain at least 12 high-quality, hand-selected angled luffa seeds gathered in the same year of sale. I have consistently achieved at least 95% germination rate using scarified seeds (with a nail file) and the wet paper towel method. While I also grow smooth luffa in my garden, they are two different species and cannot cross-pollinate, so I can guarantee these seeds are also heirloom and will grow true-to-type.
