Capital Seed Co.Australian Capital Territory, Australia
$5.00
Australian heirloom crown pumpkin, grows well in colder climates. Fast developing vigorous vine grows 1-2 pumpkins per vine. Grown in Canberra without chemicals hard to find 15 seeds per pack.
BREEDING NOTE: The Windsor Black Pumpkin is an ultra rare heirloom Pumpkin that we and others are trying to breed back into existence that hasn’t been commercially grown since the 1960s. The exact form of the Windsor Black Pumpkin is debated and is only known from drawings dating back to the 1890s. There is no known ‘pure’ source of the pumpkin known to exist but we have attempt to source a variety of known strains of these that still exist. We have obtained seeds from five different sources in Southern NSW and regional Victoria and are attempting to breed the Windsor Black from these sources trying to selectively breed these pumpkins to match the original drawings and original discription. Like with a lot of heirloom pumpkins as result the pumpkins produced from these seeds results may vary improving form year to year. Currentlyit is expected using a former developed by American pumpkin breeders that +>25-33% will match the expected appearance of Windsor Black Pumpkins but that all will contain genetics of that variety.
