Thai Green Round Eggplant (Solanum melongena) is a traditional variety widely grown throughout Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, and India. The attractive golf ball-sized green fruits are crisp when young and become tender when cooked.

These eggplants are an essential ingredient in authentic Thai curries, including green curry, red curry, and Kaeng Tai Pla. They are usually halved or quartered before cooking, where they absorb the rich flavours of the curry. They are also delicious eaten fresh in salads or served with Thai chilli pastes.
