This stunning old variety has delightful fragrant, purple-pink flowers followed by attractive deep purple pods, which are filled with green peas. Best to eat pods fresh when young and tender or use the green peas either cooked or dried.
Details: Sow direct in Autumn to Spring in a sunny position with well drained soil. Purple Podded Pea is a annual vigorous climber to 2m and will need a trellis or support. Peas need well drained, limy soil and should be watered well over the summer months. Needs soil to be10-20 degrees celcius, so avoid winter planting if you live in a cold frosty climate.
