It is a member of the Papaveraceae family, which also includes other popular garden plants such as oriental poppies and Iceland poppies.

Red Flanders Poppy is a relatively easy plant to grow, and it is often grown as a wildflower or as a decorative garden plant. It typically grows to a height of 12-30 inches (30-75 cm) and produces showy, vibrant red flowers that are about 2-4 inches (5-10 cm) in diameter. The flowers have four petals and a distinctive black spot at the base of each petal, which is believed to serve as a guide for pollinators.

Red Flanders Poppy prefers well-draining soil and full sun but can tolerate some shade. It is drought-tolerant and can thrive in a variety of soil types, including poor soils. The plant produces its flowers in late spring and early summer and can continue to bloom for several weeks.
