Widely cultivated for use in Asian cooking, Pandan leaf has a nutty flavour and is commonly used in making rice desserts or tied in a bundle and cooked with rice for its flagrance.

A low growing plant up to 0.75 m with long narrow blade-like leaves and woody aerial roots. In tropical climates it is grown in gardens or backyard or near creeks and ponds. In temperate weather, it is grown as an indoor plant in winter with a warm, sunny aspect. Allow the plant to dry out over the winter months. Stop watering, and stop worrying about brown outer leaves.
Just occasionally dip the plant (with pot) into diluted Seasol solutions for an hour or so and remove to drip dry. This way, you will be rewarded with a healthy adult plant in spring n summer with new fresh inner leaves!
