Nigella damascena
Also referred to as Love in the Mist.
A beautiful mix of blue and white flowers that are spectacular as cut flowers, or use the dried seed pods for dried arrangements.
Sowing instructions:
Can be direct sown outdoors in early Spring to early Summer, or sown in punnets.
Seed should be sown 6mm deep and 15-20cm apart. Keep soil moist.
Can be grown all year round in the tropics.
Plant information:
Seedlings emerge 2-3 weeks after sowing.
Plants grow up to 50cm tall and 20cm wide (depending on plant spacing).
Plants flower in 90-110 days.
Pinching growing tips out will make the plant bushier.
Nigella plants flower for approximately a month and plants can be sown every 3 weeks for continuous flowering. Deadheading can also prolong the flowering period.
Approx 100 seeds in a packet.
