Cucumber African Horned (Kiwano)

Botanical Name: Cucumis metuliferus

How To Grow: Sow direct in growing position in a pot, prefers a sunny spot. Sow 2-3 seeds in a group, 10mm (½in) deep and 50cm (20in) apart, later thinning to the strongest seedlings. Keep moist. Seedlings emerge in 14-21 days. Provide a trellis for the vine to climb, or plant the seeds next to a sturdy fence.

When To Plant: Spring to Summer, all year round in tropical areas.

Harvest: 12-14 weeks

Soil Type: compost, well cultivated, well drained
