Lagenaria siceraria.
A fast growing climbing vine with white flowers producing bottle shaped fruit up to 30cm long and 30cm in diameter. Fruit can be harvested when light green and cooked as a zucchini substitute. If left to dry on the vine the gourds will ripen to yellow/brown and form a hard skin with a hollow interior. Dried gourds can be used to make birdhouses for small birds. This is also a popular variety for making vases and lamps.
10 seeds in a packet. (Hand pollinated, but the fruit shapes can vary even on the same plant.)
