Chinese Premium Lychee (Fei Zi-Xiao 妃子笑) is the most premium lychee of the lychees family on account of its supreme sweetness, thick flesh and hence very tiny seeds. It is best known to be the only type of lychee that could elicit a smile out of the Emperor Tang’s most favorite concubine, Yang Gui-Fei during the Tang Dynasty (750 AD).  Hence the lychee is known as the Concubine’s Smile Lychee.

Growing instructions:-

Fill a 15 cm pot with moist, rich growing medium and sow a single seed at a depth of 2.5 cm. Keep the pot moist and warm (between 75 and 90 F., or 24 and 32 C.). Lychee seed germination usually takes between one and four weeks. Once the seedling has emerged, move it to a spot that receives partial sun. Over the course of the first year, the plant will grow vigorously to 18 or 20 cm in height. After this,  Transplant it to a larger pot or the ground for further growth.
