Chilli Rocoto Manzano Red -20+ Seeds

This plant originates from high in the Andes and it is the most cold tolerant of all the chilli varieties. It has purple flowers, lightly hairy leaves and the fruit has black seeds, this makes it an easily distinguishable chilli. The pods grow very large – up to the size of a roma tomato at its largest- with thick and fleshy skin.

The plant itself grows more like a tree – up to 4m in height at full maturity, with a woody stem and lives for up to 15 years, even in cooler Melbourne.

Each year you can expect to pick lots of chilies throughout the season, expect 20kg from each mature plant. The Scoville Heat Unit varies greatly – the milder sitting at about 30,000 Scoville Heat Units, with the hottest peaking at 250,000 Scoville Heat Units.
