Burchardia umbellata is a white flowering perennial lily and will die back in summer becoming a dormant bulb or tuber. This grass like plant with narrow linear leaves, flowers arise on a slender stalks with two leaf like bracts.
The white flowers have a reddish centre and occur in clusters of loose heads, each flower is about 25 mm in diameter and may occasionally be tinged with pink. Flowering occurs in spring.
This species is not often cultivated as plants are rarely, if ever available in nurseries.
Endemic to all Australian states.
Prefers a light moist soil in an open sunny position, drought and frost resistant.
Seeds do not require pre treatment. Grow in moist well drained sunny position, with few competing plants surrounding as it may be overtaken. Suitable for pot planting with a fungi organic enriched soil.
