Moluccella laevis

Stunning lime green bells arranged on a spike. Can be used as a fresh cut or dried flower.

Sowing instructions:

Can be direct sown outdoors in Spring, or sown in punnets 4-6 weeks prior. Seed should be sown on the surface and barely covered with soil – they need light to germinate.

Germination rates can be improved by moist cold stratification – place seeds in moist soil or between moist coffee filters and place in the fridge for 2 months.

Sow at 15-20cm intervals.

Plant information:

Seedlings emerge 12-21 days after sowing.

Thin plants to 30cm apart. Plants grow up to 1m tall and up to 0.4m wide (depending on plant spacing).

Plantings later in the season will produce shorter plants.

Plants flower in late Spring to Summer. Pick flowers when half the bells have opened for fresh flower arrangements.
