Zinnia elegans

Zinnia are stunning Summer and Autumn flowering annuals. Zinnia make excellent cut flowers with long, straight stems. They are a tall plant for the garden that attract plenty of pollinators with their daisy-like flowers.

Sowing instructions:

Can be direct sown outdoors in early Spring to Summer, or sown in punnets 4-6 weeks before the last frost. Seed should be sown 5mm deep and 30-45cm apart.

Plant information:

Seedlings emerge 7-10 days after sowing.

Plants grow 60 cm to 1.2m tall and 45cm wide (depending on plant spacing and pruning for shape).

It takes zinnia 6 weeks to first bloom, and then plants will continuously flower for at least 2 months. Growing plants every month can ensure flowers into late autumn. Deadheading encourages further flowering and branching. Plants succumb to powdery mildew at the end of the season, so good airflow between plants can increase your flowering season.

20 seeds in a packet.
