So far I have 16 of the 30 seeds from your snail vine that have sprouted.. some already have tiny leaves too.. I used rock wool seed starters in a tray kept moist and in a sunny indoor spot ..

Hi Gai Louise, Satya here in Far North Queensland in the rainforest, wet tropics 300m elevation. I grew snail pea in Brisbane in the 70s/80s, It did not flower.
Cuttings I brought from Brisbane 3/4 years ago have produced 4 pods in the last month here (to my surprise). This lead me to do an online search and your entry came up. When I saw the size of your seed pods I got excited as I grow them as an edible flower and had hope one day to have beans to eat. I will keep seed and taste the pods. So far the pods are 5cm long – they might grow longer. The flowers are pure purple.
My interest is to potentially acquire/swap another colour flower snail pea and if it has big beans that it bears even better and genetic diversity.
With the above in mind would you like to supply/exchange seeds/cuttings with me? Its a bit cold for cuttings now here – 17 degrees in the morning currently but I may be able to dig where they have taken root and strike them or there is always next summer!
Regards
Satya

Hi Satya. I didn’t get any pods for the firs few years then they came every year in high numbers. This year I’ve only got about half a dozen pods but they are nice and long and plumping up nicely. My flowers are purple and white, so an all purple one would be interesting to see. My plant dies right off here in Silverdale NSW as it gets down to minus temperatures. The pods are about 20cm long and get quite plump. I can’t send you a photo of my pods through here so if you want to see them i’ll need an email address. And also i am happy to swap seeds with you..Gai
