Climbing vine that produces long pale green zucchini-like fruit with a bulbous end. Fruit is used like a zucchini and has a comparable flavour and tender texture and is best when picked at around 25cm long. Fruits can also be left to mature and will and harden and can be used like a pumpkin. Good disease resistance. Plants do best when grown on a trellis or other medium but can also be grown on the ground. High yielding. Tromboncino is an Italian heirloom variety (originating in Liguria) also known as Zucchini Tromboncino, Serpentine Squash, Climbing Crookneck and Zucca Trombetta.
Harvest fruit at 25cm long to use like a zucchini or when vine dries out to use like a pumpkin. Is most productive when grown on a trellis (this also helps to achieve straighter fruit which is easier to handle in the kitchen).
