ASHWAGANDHA is a small evergreen shrub, yielding small red berries. It grows in India, the Middle East, and parts of Africa where they were brought by Indian Gujerati traders in ancient time. It is the oldest Ginseng plant, and was taken to China (and later Korea) by Chinese Buddhist monks making their pilgrimage to India and Nepal.
The leaves, berries and roots are used to make traditional Indian Ayuvedic medicine, and its claimed efficacy ranges from de-stresss to treating erectile dysfunction to general wellness.
There are many Ayuvedic recipes for preparing Ashwagandha Churna Balls (with jaggery palm sugar) and Ashwagandha Sweet Laddus
