Raspberry Jam Wattle (Acacia Acuminata) Narrow Leaf Form 30 Seed Pack
Acacia acuminata, known as mangart and jam, is a tree in the family Fabaceae. Endemic to Western Australia, it occurs throughout the south west of the State. It is common in the Wheatbelt, and also extends into the semi-arid interior.
This species grows as a tall shrub or small tree 3-7m.
High frost tolerance, medium salt tolerance and drought tolerant. The wood has the distinct scent of raspberry jam. Can be used for craft wood due to the attractive grain. It is the main host used in Sandalwood plantations.
The seeds can be made into flour and the sap was collected and administered as medicine.
Seed pre-treatments recommenced –
Hot water treatment recommended. (pour hot water close to boiling over the seeds for a few minutes)
Scarify use a sharp knife to cut the hard outer layer of the seed.
